Q: If I consolidated my student loans in the past, can I do it again?

A: This varies depending on your loans. You can potentially consolidate multiple times with the U.S. Department of Education, but each person's loan profile with that organization is different, and you must contact them to see what applies to your situation.

If you've consolidated with a company other than the U.S. Department of Education, you usually can't consolidate more than once. There are a few exceptions, though. For example, if you have new loans that were not included in your previous consolidation, or if you have done multiple consolidations from various lenders, you should be eligible for another consolidation package.
